On April 7, 2009 Glenn Hagele and the Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance, filed a frivolous SLAPP lawsuit against Dr. Lauranell Burch and 100 LASIK patients in an effort to silence their complaints on the internet about medical malpractice.  On February 8, 2010, the court ordered the lawsuit against Dr. Lauranell Burch and 100 patients to be dismissed with prejudice. This means that CRSQA can never again refile this lawsuit in an effort to intimidate and silence LASIK patients.
